Ancient and universal symbol of magic but has had many other meanings throughout the ages, both Christian and pagan. In the Arthurian legends Sir Gawain had the pentagram as his shield crest. The five points have also been represented as God and the four elements. In "black" magic, hung upside down the top two points are reputablely represented as the horns of the devil.
